Within the framework of the LIFE+FLANDRE project on the protection and management of a cross-border coastal dune complex between Dunkerque and Westende, the Agency of Nature and Forest (Flemish Authority) and the Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale invite you to participate in the international workshop on coastal dunes and sandy beaches management and restoration.

 

Registration & fee

Register your attendance as soon as possible. Also pre-registered participants should confirm their registration.

Register online

The registration fee for the workshop is 90 EUR. This includes access to all sessions, coffee breaks, two excursions, 3 lunches, walking dinner (12 June), workshop dinner (13 June) and VAT.

You will receive an invoice after registration.

We recommend to book your hotel at your earliest convenience, as rooms are selling out fast.

The workshop takes place in the Université du Littoral Côte d'Opale (ULCO) in Dunkirk: 189 B, avenue Maurice Schumann, Bâtiment des Darses à 59140 Dunkirk, France (map).

How to get to Dunkirk?

Important notice! French Railways (SNCF) unions announced actions on the 12th and 13th of June. Trains throughout France will be disturbed. Please travel on the 11th of June.

By train (station is at walking distance from venue and hotels)

  • From Paris: direct TGV to Dunkirk, or TGV to Lille or Calais and local train (TER) or TGV/TERGV to Dunkirk.
  • From London: Eurostar to Lille, local train to Dunkirk.
  • From any Belgian station: IC to De Panne, local bus (DK’bus line 2 or 2B, 45’, 2.40€) to Dunkirk—bus stop Dunkerque Gare
  • From Brussels—alternative: TGV to Lille, local train to Dunkirk
  • From the Netherlands: Thalys or IC Brussel to Antwerp, IC to De Panne, DK’bus line 2 or 2B to Dunkerque Gare (45 minutes)
  • From the Netherlands—alternative: Thalys or IC Brussel to Brussels, TGV to Lille, TER/TGV to Dunkirk

By car

  • from Antwerp/Netherlands: E17&E40, 165 km, 1h50
  • from Brussels: E40, 160 km, 1h45
  • from Paris: A1&A25, 300 km, 3h00

By ferry: DFDS Seaways connects Dunkirk with Dover (UK)

By airplane

  • Brussels International airport: by Belgian IC trains to De Panne (2h37, change in Brussels and Gent; 27.60 €), then local DK’Bus (line 2 or 2B, 45 mins, 2.40€) to Dunkirk.
  • Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG): TGV from CDG airport to Lille and local train (TER) to Dunkirk. OR: by RER from airport to Paris Nord station, TGV to Lille or Calais, local TER/TGV train to Dunkirk.
  • Brussels Charleroi airport (Brussels South): FLIBCO bus to Lille, local TER or TGV/TERGV train to Dunkirk.
  • Lille Lesquin airport (85 km): shuttle bus to Lille station, local train (TER) or TGV/TERGV to Dunkirk.

is a joint restoration project of the Agency for Nature and Forests of the Flemish Authority, the Conservatoire de l’Espace littoral et des Rivages lacustres and the Département du Nord that aims at protecting and managing the coastal dunes between Dunkerque (France) and Westende (Belgium) as a cross-border nature park. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the LIFE+ programme.
